South Eastern Community Connect has been supporting the community since 1979 with services that reduce isolation.

We are partially funded by the government to provide local support to seniors, families in crisis, and other community members.

We are looking for someone with a passion for community and a heart for making a difference.

The position of Finance Manager is a permanent full-time role, and the successful candidate will report to both our CEO and our Financial Controller.

They will work with the Financial Controller to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of financial support for all entities and programs.

They will be paid under the Level 4 SCHADS hourly award rate (between $74,152 and $80,000 per annum + generous Salary Sacrifice benefits).

SECC will be assessing their performance against the following indicators:

  • Quality and timeliness of financial support,
  • Compliance with all statutory obligations,
  • Feedback from internal stakeholders, and
  • Contribution to team dynamics.

Responsibilities & Key Activities
Finance & Accounting
  • Overseeing payroll functions, including ensuring employees are paid at the correct level, and rate, as per the relevant CSA and SCHCADS award; process timesheets and allocate hours worked against programs; prepare payroll for authorisation by the CEO.
  • Preparation of all sales invoices.
  • Paying invoices through the Payables function
  • Reconciliation of Receivable and Payable balances.
  • Reconciliation of reports for the Accountant on merchant facilities.
  • Payment of the monthly Instalment Activity Statement and lodgement with the ATO.
  • Payment of monthly superannuation in collaboration with the Financial Controller.
  • Preparing and lodging BAS (including reconciliation of the GST collected and paid) and PAYG statements.
  • Working with the Financial Controller and IT provider to identify, plan and implement future system requirements.
Banking
  • Receipting of all cash received, allocating to programs via spreadsheet, and banking.
  • Preparing Petty Cash withdrawals for each program as required, and withdraw from Bank.
  • Undertaking Bank accounts and Credit Card reconciliations
  • Assisting the Financial Controller in the preparation of monthly Financial Reports, including Balance Sheet, Consolidated P & L Statement, and Program P & L Statements.
  • Assisting in preparing a monthly Financial Report for the Board.
Auditing, Budgeting & Reporting
  • Preparation of our annual budget across all program areas in collaboration with the Financial Controller.
  • Preparation of Board and Sub-Committee reports for sign-off by the Financial Controller.
  • Preparation for Audit with the Financial Controller and liaising with Auditor until finalised.
Program Support
  • Working with program managers to provide financial support for funding applications.
  • Supporting program managers with ad hoc financial research and queries.
  • Preparation of funding acquittals and donor reports in collaboration with the Financial Controller.
Organisational Support
  • Managing the organisation’s insurance including reviewing cover, coordinating renewal schedules and managing claims.
  • Preparing Worker’s Compensation wage declaration in collaboration with the Financial Controller.
  • Maintaining assets registers.
  • Maintaining TIL/ Annual Leave and Sick Leave entitlements.
  • Managing external brokerage agreements across aged care programs.
  • Supervision of the implementation of new CRM and integration with existing financial software.
Management
  • Developing policies and procedures for the Finance functions in collaboration with the Financial Controller and overseeing implementation and regularly reviewing adherence.
Organisational Participation
  • Working collaboratively with team members to meet SECC’s overall objectives.
  • Participating in organisational and team planning initiatives.
  • Providing regular reporting as required.
  • Taking reasonable care of your own health and safety and that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and SECC’s policies and procedures.
  • Undertaking other responsibilities and duties within the scope of this role, as directed.
Desirable
  • Valid Australian Driver’s License
  • Experience working in the community services or not for profit sector.
  • CPA qualification, or working towards.
