Find the support you need

The early years of parenting can feel like one, long, sleepless night…

Mums and dads face all kinds of challenges, and the right kind of support is crucial.

That’s why we run a range of Supported Playgroups to help you enjoy the early years rather than survive them.

Normally, our Early Childhood Educators run our groups five days a week.

There’s a mix of free play, music and stories, as well as a shared morning tea.

But for now, we are running an Online Playgroup on Facebook, with regular live videos and info for parents by SECC’s Clio Doughty. Why not join us?

If you’d like to stay in touch with Clio to receive free resources emailed to you each week during ‘COVID-19’, sign up now.

All babies and children age 0-6 are welcome to our playgroups.

Here are our days and locations for when we resume:

Mondays: The SECC Community Hub: 1007 Botany Rd, Mascot (Coronation Hall – park on Coward St)

Tuesdays: Eastlakes Public School: 39 Florence Ave, Eastlakes (park on Florence Ave)

Wednesdays: Kensington Park Community Centre, Kensington (Hall 1 – park in carpark)

Thursdays: Green Square Tote Building: 100 Joynton Ave, Zetland (park on Austin Grv)

Fridays: Lexington Hub: 3-7 Lexington Place, Maroubra

All playgroups run from 10.00am to 12.00pm (except the Mascot one, which finishes at 11.30am).

They start on the second week of each school term.

Bring: $3 per session as well as a piece of fruit.

For more info: Call 0421 741 866, email familysupport@secc.sydney – or come along on the day.

You can also follow our Facebook playgroups page here.

Supported Playgroups have experienced playgroup facilitators.

They’re qualified in:

  • Blue Book assessments
  • Key word signing
  • Active play; and
  • Healthy nutrition.

We have guest speakers often, and a family worker is available if you need that little bit of extra help.

We also have a mobile toy library visiting each of our playgroups.

You can help create a better future for your community.
