Children's Activities Assistant

Program: Family and Children

We’re currently looking for a volunteer to assist with children’s group activities at SECC playgroups, classes, functions and/or out of school hours (SMOOSH) care.

You will also need to assist with other tasks associated with children’s group activities or playgroups.

Social Activities Assistant (Dementia Day Centre)

The Cottage Dementia Day Centre at Rushcutter’s Bay is seeking a Social Activities Assistant.

The role involves assisting in supervising and participating in activities, games and diversional therapy with clients of the dementia-specific Day Centre at the Cottage.

You would also be required to assist with food preparation and associated cleaning for client morning teas and lunches.

Drivers for our flexible transport service

We’re currently looking for experienced drivers who can provide transport, via car, for SECC clients and their carers to attend medical appointments.

You will need to be able to assist clients who have mobility aids such as walking sticks, walking frames and wheelchairs.

Medical Companions

Program: Social Support

We currently need caring and reliable volunteers to take people to their medical appointments on an occasional or permanent basis.

Carers are advised not to provide interpretations of the medical advice, but simply offer their presence and ensure they’re taken safely to their destination and back.

Home Visitors

Program: Social Support

We’re currently looking for volunteers to provide support for people in their homes, and sometimes in the community. 

The role involves providing much-needed social contact for people who need a bit of extra care and friendship.

Toy Library Assistant

We’re looking for a friendly volunteer to assist with our Toy Library.

The role involves: 

  • Sanitising and counting returned toys
  • Scanning instructions for each toy
  • Printing and laminating relevant records for toys (e.g. tags)

Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds in a community environment is of great value.

Toy Doctor

Program: Family and Children

  • Do you know how to repair and maintain toys? 
  • Do you have experience with a large variety of toys; their operation, mechanics, technicalities, workings and life cycles? 
  • Do you have experience working with people from a range of backgrounds in the local community? 

Well, we have a job for you! 

We are currently looking for an available Toy Doctor who can help us with repairs within our Toy Library.

Social Group Facilitator

We’re currently seeking a volunteer to facilitate groups for the community on behalf of South Eastern Community Connect.

The role involves helping people integrate with their local community through a variety of enriching activities.

If you’re able to help, please let Sue know.

English Teacher

We are currently looking for a reliable volunteer to conduct English classes and/or conversation classes for the local community.

The role involves assisting people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to integrate and access community options, as well as preparing lessons and materials for our classes. 

The minimum commitment required is two hours per week during school terms.
