Staff Development Days are a great way for a team to learn something new, build relationships, and have fun.

And we ticked all these boxes on Friday with our Team-Building Day at the new SECC Community Hub in Mascot.

Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Trainer Peta-Joy kicked off the day with an insightful discussion of Aboriginal history, and the generational impact of the European invasion of Australia in 1788.

She shared cultural stories, spoke about issues such as the reproduction of Aboriginal art, and discussed her own family history and the impact of the invasion on our Stolen Generations.

After lunch, staff had the chance to sample the mood-boosting drumming classes that we’ve been running in the community, as well as enjoy life-sized Jenga and other games throughout the afternoon.

It’s so wonderful to be part of a team which cares about the community it’s part of, and is eager to learn and develop both personally and professionally.
