You may feel like you’ve been staring at screens more so than usual these past few months. Sophia Morris has rounded up four activities to help you step away from the screen and give your eyes a break.

1. Get your knit on.

Instead of scrolling endlessly on social media, take up embroidery or knitting.

A great place to get started is Etsy, where there are embroidery and knitting kits for beginners to buy.

2. Put the pieces together.

A challenging jigsaw puzzle can take up hours of your time, and completing it will give you a sense of achievement.

It’s a great family project.

Many puzzle sellers are sold out of their products due to increased demand, so I recommend reaching out to friends who may have one you can borrow.

3. Get your hands dirty.

Winter is a great time to plant leafy vegetables including kale, bok choy, and spinach.

They grow pretty quickly and can be used in a variety of foods.

This article gives more details on what to plant and how long they take to grow.

4. Send some snail mail.

Receiving unexpected mail can be a fun surprise – if it’s not a bill to be paid.

Now’s the perfect time to write a letter to a friend, send them a postcard, or post them a book that you think they’d enjoy.

Hopefully they’ll post you something back!
