Christmas is a time of joy, excitement and fun with family and friends for most. But for many families living in crisis, poverty or isolation, the end of the year is challenging.

How wonderful it is to share a story of generosity and true Christmas spirit, when we received special Christmas presents for our families in need from two complete strangers.

Sydney’s Mandy Mahmoudi donated her Christmas Tree complete with decorations to brighten the festive season for a family in need. “We had this tree in tip top condition with decorations as we were downsizing to a slimmer one, and I wanted to donate it to a family who would love a tree”, says Mandy.

She donated the tree to South Eastern Community Connect, and it now stands proud in the home of a family with five young children, who could never afford a Christmas Tree and now for the first time have a tree of their own. “It is so, so nice to hear it is now with a family who loves it”, Mandy says.

Mum of three, Catherine Climo, donated a ute load of her children’s pre-loved toys to our toy library. “They are all still in great shape, and I am so excited they are going to a great cause.”

Catherine cleaned and boxed the toys and delivered them with her little one in tow. “I am so glad they will be played with and make loads of little children happy”, she says.

The South Eastern Community Connect toy library gladly accepts donations of toys for children 0-8 years of age. Any family can borrow from the library and enjoy the variety of toys, and it is a fabulous resource especially for families in need who many not be able to afford to buy new toys for their children.

This is the true Christmas spirit – thank you Mandy and Catherine for your kindness.
