Want to have your professional photo taken for free and help us create a portrait of our community?

We are inviting residents of South Eastern Sydney to participate in a free professional photo session and have their portrait shown in the “Generations of Eastlakes” exhibition this autumn.

“We are looking for locals who will have their photo taken with a friend, neighbour or family members from different generation. Grandparents with their children and grandchildren or neighbours, friends and workmates who span the generations – all are welcome to participate,” says Kate Melhopt, executive officer of South Eastern Community Connect.

“Our community is rich and diverse and full of deep relationships across cultures and ages. That is what makes this part of Sydney so special, and it is what we want to capture and celebrate in our exhibition ‘Generations of Eastlakes’”, explains Kate.

The photo session for the exhibition will be on 24 April 2017 at Eastlakes Shopping Centre, 10:30 – 2:30. The session is free of charge but spots are strictly limited and bookings are essential.

One photo of each group of people will then be selected for the exhibition, printed and mounted and displayed as part of “Generations of Eastlakes”, 5-14 May 2017 at Eastlakes Shopping Centre.

“The project ‘Generations of Eastlakes’ is part of our celebration of Neighbourhood Centre Week, which in 2017 is all about ‘Belonging’. The exhibition opens on the 5th of May with a celebration at our office at Eastlakes Shopping Centre”, Kate adds.

“This community project is in itself testimony to the spirit of the South East Sydney community. We have been offered the best support from Eastlakes Shopping Centre and its tenants and from Snappr Photographer in Surrey Hills. Without them we would not have been able to make this idea reality”, says Kate.

After the exhibition closes on May 14, just in time for Mother’s Day, participants are welcome to buy their print for $25, including all their other digital images from the session. All proceeds will go to support the aged services of South Eastern Community Connect.

To book your photo session drop into the SECC office at Shop 84, Eastlakes Shopping Centre.
